Icing Spots
Does icing spots work? Yes, but only for certain kinds of pimples and only to a certain extent. Just as you would put ice on a sprained ankle to reduce inflammation, you can ice a pimple that is inflamed, and you will see a reduction in swelling and redness. So if your pimple is deep-set, red, and inflamed, then icing will help reduce the swelling. But for pimples that are blackheads or whiteheads that show no signs of inflammation, then icing that type of spot serves little purpose. For all kinds of pimples, dermatologists recommend spot treatments as the best way to get rid of pimples safely and with minimal scarring.
