LED Light Therapy
Evidence for LED light masks and therapies are not conclusive, but these therapies are making waves right now. An increasing number of brands in the beauty space are designing and producing at-home devices that emit LED red light and LED blue light. Dermatologists who advocate this therapy type claim the red light stimulates elastin and collagen. And the blue light kills acne bacteria. Other benefits that users claim include smoother skin texture, reduced inflammation, and lessened breakouts. This therapy type focuses on short bursts of light to provide benefits. However, there is evidence that prolonged blue light exposure has a damaging effect to the skin. So simply sitting in front of a computer is not the same as a controlled LED therapy treatment.
