What are Carrier Oils?
A carrier oil is an oil derived from a seed, nut, fruit, or plant. They work by diluting concentrated essential oils to prevent skin irritation. Carrier oils can be used independently or as an ingredient in skincare products. You often see them in serums, masks, face oils, cleansers, creams, scrubs, and lotions because of their high vitamin and essential fatty acid content, which help nourish the skin and promote healing. When choosing a carrier oil to use as a base for an essential oil blend or on its own, you should first consider your skin type. Some essential oils tend to be more occlusive, while others are more lightweight. For example, if you have very oily or acne-prone skin, you may want to opt for a lighter carrier oil and vice versa.
