Over Moisturizing Skin?

Did you know that over-moisturizing the skin can have adverse side effects? The skin likes balance. If we tip the scale by over-moisturizing, it can weaken the skin barrier, clog pores, and trigger excess oil production. So, how can you tell if you're going too far in your moisturizing routine? Here are a few key signs to look out for: (1) Flaky or dry skin. When you over-moisturize, your skin's repair process and health can decline. This deterioration can manifest in a few ways, including redness, dry or flaky skin, and irritation. (2) Breakouts and clogged pores. The most immediate sign of over-hydration is clogged pores and breakouts from residue buildup on the skin. (3) Increased sebum production. If you already have oily skin, excessively moisturizing your skin may cause your skin to produce more sebum.
